Hello

My name is Jason and I am new...came across Cody through Josh at Strength Side/Other Side. I was hooked from the start and waiting on my first Ironmind bag. I grew up on a small farm and this mimics so much of what I had to do...just never have been into the whole weight room thing. Kettlebells were my first favorite and then got into X3 by Dr. Jaquish but this has really taken root. Had a call with Cody and just to show the kind of person he is, he didn't try to "sell" me, if anyting he tried harder to not sell me. That's when I knew I found a place.

still waiting on my first bag...hope to be up and running by next week.

Need help deciding a routine

Hey everybody, the name is Justin. Ive recently started lifing sandbags since the gym I go to is always crowded and Ive really enjoyed it so far.

Currently, Im trying to decide between the Bear School witcher routine and the Sandbag Hypertrophy 2.0 routine.

Im in the National Guard and looking to return to my former unit which does a bit more stuff in the field then I do now. So the rucking and enduring aspect of the Bear School routine fits in there (as well as I just love The Witcher). However, I like how Hypertrophy 2.0 has the calisthenics circuits. I also go ruck marching every week to train for the Norwegian Foot March.

I thought about combining the two programs but I dont know if that would be overdoing it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great guidance! What you described is what I had in mind, but I did not think about rotating the lifts between the weeks, so thank you for that!

Hey any time I hope it goes well!

Hi Cody, hi all.

First of all: thank you Cody for creating this place. It looks great, clear and easy to navigate.

I'm Felix, my YouTube channel is https://youtube.com/@sandsacksandsyndikat -- there I post videos on sandbag training. They are German but the YouTube magic provides pretty good English audio translations. I'm not nearly as cool as Cody, who even gets Polish, Japanese and Indonesian translations but certainly I will get there soon. My videos are similar in direction to Cody's but our styles are quite different. Thematically there is some overlap but due to our different backgrounds and approaches we provide different perspectives. I also have an English channel where I upload less frequently but I am not sure at all if that makes any sense given the pretty good AI translations.

For full disclosure and transparency: I also distribute/sell the StrongFit sandbags in the EU. It all started with a collective order for friends and viewers/readers and just recently turned into an online shop. My reason for doing this are my beliefs that

  1. strength training is non-negotiable and

  2. sandbags are the lowest threshold to start strength training.

That is also what motivates me. I am no missionary, I am quiet man. But whoever is crazy enough to ask me about a way to a better life will hear my sermon. There is a lot to be gained by taking responsibility for one's own health. At the same time there is just a lot of fun to be had with sandbags. I have them stacked in the corner of my bedroom. They call out to me every day. And I give in.

As for my own goals, I am currently trying to get a bulletproof back and to find a way to get my BJJ training and daily sandbag training under one roof.

I am also trying to get to 90kg bodyweight just to prove to myself that I can do it -- I've been stuck at 88kg for a long time, probably for various reasons I don't want to bore you with.

I'm looking forward to whatever flavour of community this will turn out to be. So far I have only had nice exchanges with sandbag nuts.

All the best to all of you,
Felix

PS: I've written this post before -- apparently I did not send it or it got deleted. In case of the latter please let me know what I did wrong.

Also my apologies for posting this in the 'home' section. I was sure I had posted it in the 'Welcome'- or 'Sadbags'-topic. Cody, could you move it?

Welcome!

Welcome to The Stone Circle! Introduce yourself below. How's your training been going?

I'll start.
My name's Cody, and I have a few goals I'm chasing at the moment.

There's a calisthenics circuit I'd like to complete for 15 rounds (600 total reps) in 30 minutes.
I'd also like to keep pushing my bodyweight sandbag box squat reps further!

Just a reminder: If you're brand new to sandbags, be sure to check out the free video series I created called Sandbag Basics. It covers everything you need to get started!

Hey everyone, Han here 👋

Based in Melbourne, relatively new dad and turning 40 this year.

I’ve been training consistently for a while, but lately spending more time out of the gym and enjoying it more. Currently doing gymnastics rings, with kettlebell juggling (super addictive) and rope flow for mobility and recovery.

New to sandbag training and looking to use it to complement my rings work and build more real-world strength.

Main goal is improving posture, not just to look good, but to move well and feel good.

Keen to learn from everyone here 👍

Hey I'm glad you're here man!! Given how easily you were moving that bag in your box squats, I think you really have a lot of potential with sandbags!
